Whimsy Wildflower Wedding Reception Pieces

Mickey and Robert’s Kincardine, Ontario wedding reception transformed her childhood family farm into a romantic, colourful fairytale filled with whimsy, heartfelt details, and handmade touches lovingly created by the bride and her mom.

A Beautiful Welcome

I was honoured when Mickey asked me to help bring her vision to life by designing some of her day-of wedding pieces, including a pair of custom welcome signs that would greet guests and would guide guests along the winding path to the reception..

Project Specifics

  • Two original wedding welcome signs
  • Streamlines the design process and saves time.
  • Day of installation

As a DIY bride herself, Mickey designed and built the white wooden sign bases, while I created the artistic lettering and completed the final assembly. The colourful pieces popped beautifully against the lush green of the mature trees that surrounded the property.

The Design Process

After receiving inspiration images from the bride, I designed the layout to include her chosen wording and personalized details. Once the design was approved, I used both my laser cutter and vinyl cutter to produce the custom lettering.

Each laser-cut letter was individually hand painted to create a soft, pastel rainbow gradient before being carefully adhered to the sign. This combination of precision craftsmanship and handmade finishing gave each piece a unique character that perfectly complemented the wedding’s whimsical style.

On the morning of the wedding, Mickey brought fresh, colourful flowers to complete the signs. Once they were in place, the bridesmaids and I arranged the blooms by using mason jars, positioning the taller stems to naturally frame the lettering. The fresh floral accents added texture, depth, and colour that tied the entire design together.
